Abstract

Few decades ago, a systematic study in bamboo structural models was developed by the Stuttgart Institute. A mechanic behaviour specific essay was invented and bending ways were compared. This paper undates SI analisys techniques. In addition, it explains the experiences about two real, sustainable constructions using mediterranean reed. The reed curving way was the main issue to solve in them: three handmade ceiling domes (canteen in Elche), and a semi-industrial warehouse (Muchamiel). The paper also explains two versions of elasticity essays that were taken to the parametric environment in order to obtain form families and other structural models. This digital work could be an open, transferable tool available anywhere, like the Open Source Ecology community does. To summarize, we use open graphic software as a way of sharing ancestral and handmade technologies of mediterranean reed´s uses. This graphic software would also give versatility and process control in further essays.
