Adquisició del paràmetre del subjecte nul en català

Abstract

Aquest treball se situa dintre de la disciplina de l’adquisició del llenguatge, encarregada d’estudiar els diferents processos que l’ésser humà du a terme en el desenvolupament de la parla. En aquest cas, s’estudiarà l’adquisició del subjecte nul en català, i es partirà de la següent qüestió: els xiquets catalanoparlants menors de 5 anys, han fixat correctament el paràmetre del subjecte nul? Per resoldre aquesta qüestió, partirem de la hipòtesi del VEPS (Very Early Parameter Settings), que afirma que els paràmetres (una de les dimensions de la variació estructural del llenguatge humà) es fixen abans de l’estadi de dues paraules. Per realitzar l’estudi, comptabilitzarem els subjectes nuls en frases subordinades i no subordinades per a 12 adults i 6 xiquets parlants de català; material que extraurem de la base de dades CHILDES. Finalment compararem els nostres resultats amb els de l’anglés de Valian (1991), llengua que no admet l’omissió de subjecte.

The present research is framed within the discipline of language acquisition, which is responsible for studying the different processes that human beings carry out during the development of speech. In this project we investigated the acquisition of the null subject in Catalan. We began considering the following question: Have Catalan children, younger than 5 years old, set the null subject parameter correctly? To solve this question we started with the VEPS (Very Early Parameter Settings) hypothesis, which states that the parameters (one of the dimensions of the structural variation of human language) are set before the two-word stage. We counted the number of null subjects in subordinate and non-subordinate sentences for 12 Catalan adults and 6 Catalan children. These data have been extracted from the CHILDES database. Finally, we compared our results with the ones in the English language of Valian (1991), because English does not allow subject omission.
