Resumen: | Native CRISPR-Cas adaptive immunity systems prevent plasmid conjugation and virus-mediated gene transfer. Zhang et al. have recently reported in Molecular Cell that natural transformation is also limited by a simple endogenous CRISPR system, which would make an optimal candidate tool for functional applications such as genome editing. |
