Enric Valor, estudi i compromís per la llengua

Abstract

Enric Valor i Vives ha estat una de les personalitats valencianes més significatives en l’estudi i la difusió del valencià al llarg del segle XX, tant pel seu compromís amb l’ensenyament de l’idioma i el seu activisme cultural, abans de la Guerra Civil i durant el franquisme, com per la publicació de nombroses obres gramaticals i literàries. L’objectiu d’aquestes pàgines és oferir una panoràmica el més completa posible d’Enric Valor des d’aquestes dues vessants: per una part, com a persona compromesa amb el seu poble i, per una altra, com a estudiós de la llengua, perquè la seua tasca literària i lingüística només es podrá entendre a partir de la seua concepció nacional, on la llengua ocupa un paper determinant. A més a més, amb l’anàlisi de les seues actuacions a favor de la llengua i el país s’hi mostren la convicció i la fortalesa dels seus ideals, la tenacitat esmerçada en la seua defensa i la constància de les actuacions en les situacions més adverses.

Enric Valor i Vives has been one of the most important Valencian personalities regarding the study and dissemination of the Catalanan language in the 20 th century, for his commitment to the teaching of the language and his cultural activism, before the Spanish Civil War and during the Franco dictatorship, as well as for the publication of numerous grammatical and literary works. The aim of this paper is to offer an overview, as complete as possible, of these two facets of Enric Valor: on one hand, as person committed to his folk and, on the other, as researcher of the Catalan language, because his literary and linguistic tasc can only be understood in connection to his concept of nation, where the language plays a main role. The strength and depth of his ideals are shown by the analysis of his actions in favour of the Catalan language and the country; his devoted perseverance by his defense and constancy of his actions regardless of the adverse situations.
