Las trabajadoras extranjeras en la España mediterránea. La perspectiva empresarial

Abstract

La introducción sintetiza los rasgos geográficos actuales de la presencia extranjera en España: fuerte crecimiento reciente (en 2006 son el 8,7% del total de habitantes), la transformación de España en una encrucijada para la inmigración de todos los continentes, y la desequilibrada distribución territorial de los extranjeros, de acuerdo con el mapa de España con mayor desarrollo económico. En segundo lugar, se justifica la necesidad de aumentar el conocimiento sobre las mujeres extranjeras en España: por su número, reagrupación familiar, crecimiento de su natalidad en España, … y sobre todo como trabajadoras. Para ello se ofrecen los principales resultados de una encuesta hecha a 304 africanas y a 330 latinoamericanas residentes en la España mediterránea. El tercer apartado muestra los resultados de otra encuesta hecha en el mismo ámbito territorial a 77 empresas y organismos empresariales que emplean a mujeres inmigrantes: los encuestados ofrecen un amplio abanico de opiniones sobre sus motivos para contratar extranjeras, sobre las características de estas trabajadoras o las repercusiones para el sector económico o para los empresarios, en caso de desaparecer esta mano de obra.

The introduction incorporates the current geographical features of the presence of immigrants in Spain: the sharp recent increase (in 2006 they constitute 8.7% of the population), the transformation of Spain into a crossroads of immigration from all continents and the uneven territorial distribution of immigrants, corresponding to the most economically developed parts of Spain. Secondly, the need to increase knowledge about foreign women in Spain is justified: by their number, family regrouping, and the increase of their birth-rate in Spain ... and above all as workers. For this reason, the main results of a study carried out on 304 African women and 330 Latin-American women living in Spain are shown. The third paragraph shows the results of another study carried out in the same region on 77 companies and business organisations that employ women immigrants: the companies questioned show a wide range of opinions on their motives for employing immigrants, on the characteristics of these workers and on the repercussions on the economic sector or on the businessman, if this workforce disappeared.
