Abstract: The successful synthesis of 2-amino-chromene with excellent yields (82%) was achieved by utilizing basic hierarchical zeolites prepared by surfactant-templating as catalysts in a multicomponent reaction under solvent-free conditions. The use of these hierarchical zeolites more than doubles the activity of their microporous counterparts. These results highlight the superior diffusivity and performance of hierarchical zeolites, which can be attributed to their well-developed intracrystalline mesoporosity, highly accessible and strong basic sites.
