Abstract: Photopolymers can be considered holographic recording materials beacuse of their many attractive features. Among these, we could mention their ability to self-develop, the fact dry processing can be used with them, their good stability and thick emulsion layers, and their high sensitivity, diffraction efficiency and resolution. Photopolymers have been developed for conventional imaging systems, real time interferometry and holographic optical elements. These materials have applications in other optical devices such as high-density storage and optical data processing. This paper is a review of the study of photopolymers employed as holographic recording materials used in applications such as holographic memories and the obtaining of holographic optical elements.
