Preservación del patrimonio cultural: la arquitectura de la huerta alicantina

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar la situación actual de las arquitecturas histórico-monumentales situadas en la huerta de Alicante. Éstas se agrupan en tres bloques bien diferenciados. El primero está compuesto por las construcciones hidráulicas tales como el pantano de Tibi y los assuts de Les Fontetes, Nou y El Campello que dieron lugar a la ampliación de este espacio fértil y al enriquecimiento de la capital. El segundo está formado por las torres defensivas, construidas a finales del siglo XVI; mientras que el tercero está constituido por las viviendas residenciales pertenecientes a la oligarquía alicantina decimonónica. Es, sobre todo, este patrimonio militar y civil el que se ha visto reducido en las últimas décadas por la presión urbanística sufrida en esta zona. Por ello, son importantes las últimas iniciativas para recuperar dicho patrimonio cultural como señal de identidad de un espacio que vas más allá de las divisiones administrativas actuales.

The objective of this work is to analyse the current situation of the different historical and monumental architectures located in Alicante’s gardens. Three well differenciated groups can be found. The first is formed by structures of hydraulic engineering such as Tibi swamp, the assuts of Les Fontetes, Nou and El Campello, which caused the enlargement of this fertile space and the enrichment of the capital. The second is formed by the defensive towers, built at the end of the sixteenth century. The third group is formed by the residential properties belonging to nineteenth century’s Alicante’s oligarchy. It happens that this military and civil heritage was specially reduced in the last decades due to urbanistic pressure suffered in this area. This is why the last efforts becomes so important to preserve this cultural heritage as an identity sign of a space that goes beyond the current administrative divisions.
