El drama didáctico en el teatro evangelizador novohispano: La educación de los hijos

Abstract

El teatro llevado a cabo por los franciscanos en Nueva España durante siglo XVI obedeció a objetivos muy concretos de adaptación del cristianismo a un entorno del todo nuevo y, por tanto, quedó determinado por los planteamientos y problemas propios de la llamada “conquista espiritual”. En este sentido, las implicaciones no sólo religiosas sino también culturales e ideológicas de esta dramaturgia se presentan como un elemento destacado en el complejo proceso de aculturación que supuso todo el proceso evangelizador.

The theatre carried out by the Franciscans in New Spain during the 16th century obeyed very concrete aims of the adaptation of the Christianity to a completely new environment and, therefore, it remained determined by the expositions and own problems of the so called " spiritual conquest ".In this respect, not only religious but also cultural and ideological implications of this dramaturgy appear as an element emphasized in the complex process of acculturation that supposed the whole evangelizing process.
