ISSN 0030-4018, pp. 279-282 URI: http://hdl.handle.net/10045/9247 DOI: 10.1016/S0030-4018(01)01672-8 ISSN: 0030-4018 (Print) Abstract: In this paper we present the theoretical and experimental study of diffraction efficiency of unbleached holograms, showing that the volume fraction of metallic silver inside the gelatin after development (q) is the main parameter in the behavior of the holographic grating properties. Using this fact, and the obtained relationship between pH and q, we have found values of diffraction efficiencies near 30% with a developing time of 3 min without bleaching step.
