Abstract: 
El señorío de Montealegre del Castillo, convertido en mayorazgo en el siglo XV, ha
supuesto la pervivencia de unos modos de explotación feudal en un ámbito donde los municipios
alcanzaron el realengo ya en esa centuria. Redimidos el dominio jurisdiccional y el señorío
territorial durante el siglo XIX, la liquidación del patrimonio dejó una distribución de las
explotaciones con un claro predominio de la mediana y pequeña propiedad, notablemente
contrastado con las estructuras agrarias de las tierras vecinas.
The feudal-estate («señorío») of Montealegre del Castillo changed into an entailed-estate
(«mayorazgo») in the XV Century. Therefore, even though, the municipalities of that area
became «realengos» in that same century, in Montealegre del Castillo the feudal exploitation
methods still continued. The jurisdictional power was redeemed in the XIX Century, as well as
the señorío territorial, but the distribution of the exploitations has left a clear predominance of
the small and medium sized property which contrasts with the agrarian structures of the rest of
the land in the area.
