Migraciones: ¿qué describen el Censo de 2001 y la Estadística de Variaciones Residenciales?

El trabajo aborda las diferencias mostradas por la Estadística de Variaciones Residenciales (EVR) y el Censo de Población 2001 en la captura de la movilidad española entre 1991 y 2001. Encontramos que las migraciones captadas por el Censo se han alejado espectacularmente de las declaradas en las variaciones residenciales. Tras analizar en profundidad ambas fuentes estadísticas, pensamos que el Censo de 2001 presenta para esta variable importantes problemas de coherencia y de falta de respuesta, por lo que no resulta una fuente estadística fiable con la que contrastar los actuales niveles de movilidad de la población.
In this paper, we try to explain the differences between the Residential Variation Statistics (Estadística de Variaciones Residenciales, EVR) and the Population Census 2001 on the measurement of Spanish population mobility from 1991 to 2001. We found that the migrations captured through the Census have distanced themselves widely from the data of the residential variations. After analysing both statistical sources in detail, we think that the Census 2001 presents important coherence problems and non-response in this variable, so that it is not a reliable statistic source to evaluate the current level of population mobility.
