Relación entre creatividad, síntomas somáticos y rendimiento académico en una muestra de bachillerato

Abstract

En la actualidad nos encontramos en nuestras aulas con un gran porcentaje de alumnos que presentan diversa sintomatología somática, pudiendo ser ésta una de las variables que influye en su rendimiento académico. Por otra parte, nos encontramos igualmente con alumnos cuya creatividad se considera baja o nula. Es por ello que la presente investigación tiene como objetivo fundamental determinar el grado en el cual la sintomatología somática y el nivel de creatividad pueden ser concomitantes con la variación en el rendimiento académico. La existencia y fuerza de esta relación la determinamos estadísticamente por medio de coeficientes de correlación. Se trata pues de un estudio correlacional entre 3 variables; rendimiento académico, síntomas somáticos y creatividad. Los datos han sido extraídos de una muestra de alumnos de 2º de bachillerato de un IES de la ciudad de Elche. La sintomatología somática ha sido medida con la “Escala de Síntomas Somáticos Intensidad” y la “Escala de Síntomas Somáticos frecuencia”; la creatividad ha sido evaluada con el Test Torrance. En este trabajo pretendemos dar respuestas a preguntas de investigación tales como: ¿los alumnos que presentan una mayor motivación obtienen un mayor o menor rendimiento académico? ¿A mayor nivel de ansiedad existe un mayor rendimiento académico?

Nowadays we find in our classrooms a high percentage of students who show diverse somatic symptomatology, which could be one of the variables that can affect their academic performance. On the other hand, we also find some students whose creativity is considered low or absent. For that reason, the main objective of this research is to delimit the grade in which somatic symptomatology and the level of creativity can be concomitant with the variation in academic performance. We determine the existence and strength of this relationship statistically using correlation coefficients. Therefore, this is a correlational study between 3 variables; academic performance, somatic symptoms and creativity. The data have been extracted from a 2º of baccalaureate sample in a high school in the city of Elche. Somatic symptomatology has been measured with the “Escala de Síntomas Somáticos Intensidad” and the “Escala de Síntomas Somáticos Frecuencia”; creativity has been assessed with the “Torrance Test”. With this work we expect to give answers to some research questions such as: Do the students who show a higher motivation obtain higher or lower academic performance? Does a higher level of anxiety imply a better academic performance?
