Perfil psicosocial de los menores expuestos a violencia de género que son acogidos con sus madres en centros especializados

Abstract

Cuando la violencia de género se instaura en el hogar, una alternativa para proteger a la mujer son los centros especializados que tratan de proveerle una asistencia social integral. Según diferentes fuentes (Mestre, Tur y Samper, 2008; Rosser, Suriá, Villegas el al, 2011; Observatorio de la violencia de género, 2012) las mujeres víctimas de VG que son acogidas en los Centros Residenciales tienen entre 20 y 40 años, por lo que es frecuente que ingresen en estos recursos acompañadas de sus hijos/as. Estos menores han sido testigos y a menudo también víctimas directas de esta violencia y sufren, como sus madres las repercusiones de la misma. Por ello las políticas de asistencia social integral a este colectivo deben contemplar igualmente su atención. Numerosas investigaciones realizadas en nuestro país (Bravo, 2008: Horno, 2006; Mestre, Tur y Samper, 2008; Rosser, Suriá y Villegas, 2012) indican, sin embargo, que son escasos los programas de intervención con estos menores al entender que la intervención, su acompañamiento y protección son responsabilidad de la madre y es hacia esta que se dirigen los programas de atención, asistencia y reinserción social. Ante la evidente necesidad de asumir esta tarea pendiente en la intervención psicosocial el primer paso es conocer la realidad de estos niños y niñas y de sus madres. En consecuencia, en este trabajo pretendemos describir las características psicosociales del colectivo de menores acogidos junto con sus madres en los centros de acogida, de cara al desarrollo de programas que permitan la atención de sus principales necesidades.

If the gender violence is taking place at home, the specialized centers where women are given a comprehensive social assistance are an alternative to protect them. According to different authors (Mestre, Tur and Samper, 2008; Rosser, Suriá, Villegas et al, 2011; Observatorio de la violencia de género, 2012), the women that are victims of gender violence and who are taken in specialized residential centers are 20 to 40 years old so they are usually admitted in these centers together with their children. These minors have witnessed this violence, and they have often been direct victims of it, so they suffer the consequences of it as their mothers do. It is for this reason that the policies of comprehensive social assistance should take them into account. However, several researches carried out in our country (Bravo, 2008: Horno, 2006; Mestre, Tur and Samper, 2008; Rosser, Suriá and Villegas, 2012) point out that the interventional programmes with these minors are actually scarce as it is usually believed that the intervention, the company and the protection of these minors are a responsibility of the mother so the programmes are directed to her. In view of the obvious need of facing this unresolved matter of the psycho-social intevention, the first step is to know the reality of these children and their mothers. Consequently, in this paper we expect to describe the psycho-social characteristics of the minors fostered together with their mothers in the shelters for developing programmes that would enable the attention of their main needs.
