La huerta de Alicante: pérdida de un paisaje cultural

Abstract

La huerta de Alicante se enmarca en el conjunto de los paisajes del agua que conforman los regadíos históricos de las llanuras aluviales mediterráneas. Sometida a una gran presión urbanística y en el contexto del declive de la actividad agraria de todo el país, en los últimos veinte años ha sufrido una transformación sin precedentes que ha supuesto la desaparición de la actividad agraria y la degradación de un paisaje cultural y patrimonial de elevado valor. Este artículo analiza la estructura territorial de este lugar, su valor patrimonial y paisajístico y examina si esta antigua huerta sigue poseyendo valores importantes que justifiquen su preservación.

Huerta de Alicante is part of the whole water landscapes that make up the historic irrigation Mediterranean floodplains. Under great development pressure and in the context of the decline of farming around the country over the last twenty years has undergone an unprecedented transformation that has led to the demise of agriculture and the degradation of a cultural landscape and heritage high value. This article analyzes the spatial structure of this place, its landscape and heritage value and examines this place itself still possesses important values to justify their preservation.
