De la percepció cognitiva a la percepció auditiva. L’evolució del verb entendre en català antic (segles XIII-XVI)

Abstract: 
En aquest estudi analitzem el procés de canvi semàntic pel qual, en català antic (segles XIII-XVI), el verb entendre, partint d’un nucli semàntic de percepció intel·lectual, arribarà a esdevenir verb de percepció auditiva. En concret, constatem que en la llengua antiga aquest verb sols arribarà a semantitzar (a finals del s. XIV) la percepció d’estímuls lingüístics; així, doncs, no convergirà totalment amb el verb oir, a diferència del que ocorre amb altres evolucions romàniques de INTENDĔRE (en francès, en occità o en sard). Aquest estudi l’hem fonamentat en l’anàlisi dades de corpus lingüístics informatitzats i aplicant-hi els conceptes teòrics de la Invited Inferencing Theory of Semantic Change (TCSII) d’E. C. Traugott (2012) i el concepte d’evidencialitat.
This study analyzes the process of semantic change by which the Old Catalan verb entendre developed from the 13th to the 16th centuries from a meaning based on intellectual perception to one implying auditory perception. In particular, this article shows that by the end of the 14th century the verb entendre had only semanticized the perception of linguistic stimuli and had not fused completely with the meaning of the verb oir, as was the case with the evolution of INTENDERE in other Romance languages (such as French, Occitan, and Sardinian). Our study has been based on data analysis of an electronic linguistic corpus using the concepts of E.C. Traugott's Invited Interfering Theory of Semantic Change (TCSII) (2012) and the concept of evidenciality.
