Abstract: 
Actualmente estamos inmersos en la sociedad de la información, caracterizada por un alto componente tecnológico. Es en este contexto donde se considera Internet como uno de los elementos clave de dicha sociedad. En el caso de la educación, Internet es también el principal recurso en el proceso de integración de las TIC. Ahora bien, la estructura actual de Internet no es la de hace unos años y los recursos que podemos encontrar en la Red ofrecen nuevas posibilidades inexistentes anteriormente. Es en este sentido que queremos abordar en este capítulo las cuestiones fundamentales que caracterizan el modelo actual de Internet, incidiendo en lo que se refiere a los nuevos recursos y posibilidades que ofrece.
Nowadays we are in the midst in the information society, one of whose main features is its important technological dimension. In such a context, Internet is considered one of its key elements. As far as education is concerned, Internet is also the main resource in the ICT integration process. However, the structure of the net has changed in the last few years and the resources that can be found online offer new possibilities which were not available previously. Therefore, this chapter aims to deal with the main features of the current Internet model by highlighting the new resources and possibilities which it has to offer.
