Abstract: 
El presente artículo es una aportación para dar a conocer las importantes y ricas relaciones, entre los reinos hispánicos y Persia. Durante el s. XVI y XVII las relaciones diplomáticas entre Persia y diversos reinos europeos se habían incrementado, y sobre todo en el caso de Portugal y España, estos contactos habían llevado al establecimiento de unos acuerdos y a la creación de la primera legación diplomática en Persia. A través de la obra de don Juan de Persia, un personaje de la corte de Shah Abbás, se nos relata la historia de Persia desde la antigüedad remota hasta la época safaví y su viaje desde Persia hasta España. Además, el joven Uruch Bec -don Juan de Persia-, junto con otros persas a su llegada a Roma y España se convirtieron a la fe católica. Este detalle junto con la interesante descripción de la historia de Persia y los avatares de la dinastía safaví, es lo que hace de este relato un documento interesante para ver como se veían los persas, o que imagen es la que querían transmitirnos.
The present article is a contribution to present the important and rich relationships between the Hispanic kingdoms and Persia. During s. XVI and XVII, the diplomatic relations between Persia and diverse European kingdoms were increased; particularly in the case of Portugal and Spain these contacts had taken to the establishment of agreements and the creation of the first diplomatic legation in Persia. Through the work of Don Juan de Persia, an important figure of Shah Abbas’ court, the history of Persia is related to us from the remote antiquity to the safavid time and his trip from Persia to Spain. In addition, when the young Uruch Bec - Don Juan de Persia -, along with other Persians from the embassy arrived to Rome and Spain, became to the Catholic faith. This detail along with the interesting description of the history of Persia and the ups and downs of the safavid dynasty, is what makes of this story an interesting document to see how the Persians saw themselves, or what image they wanted to transmit to us.
