El ayuntamiento de Palma en la Sala de Millones en el Antiguo Régimen

Abstract

Carlos III creó en 1767 la sexta plaza en la Sala de Millones para las ciudades con voto en Cortes de Mallorca y Cataluña. Dicha Sala fue la única institución de representación territorial permanente entre Cortes en el siglo XVIII. La presente investigación tiene la finalidad de analizar el proceso de solicitud, concesión y participación del ayuntamiento palmesano en la Sala de Millones. Además se describe la tipología de diputados, sistema electivo, nombramiento, remuneración, así como la relación de diputados palmesanos en dicha Sala.

In 1767 Carlos III enabled the sixth place in the «Sala de Millones» for the city of Palma and for several town halls of the Catalonia. This «Sala» was the only institution of the provinces of the crowns of Castile and Aragon with permanent representation. This research analyses the application process, the evolution and the functions of the «Sala de Millones» as well as the typology, elective system, appointment and remuneration. The article concludes with the relation of deputies of the city Council of Palma in the «Sala de Millones».
