Razones y riesgos específicos del offshore outsourcing

Abstract

El Offshore Outsourcing de Sistemas de Información (OffOut) ha experimentado un desarrollo intenso a nivel global en los últimos años. Esta práctica está alentada por una serie de razones específicas, entre las que la tendencia a la globalización, el desarrollo tecnológico y la posibilidad de explorar nuevos mercados son tenidos en cuenta. Pero también la distancia tanto geográfica como cultural hace que surjan más riesgos que en el caso del outsourcing convencional, dentro del propio país. Es por ello que el presente trabajo analiza las razones y riesgos específicos del OffOut, contrastando su importancia en las grandes empresas españolas.

Information Systems Offshore Outsourcing (OffOut) has suffer a dramatic development in recent years all over the world. This practice is encouraged by a group of reasons, like the tendency to globalisation, the technological development and the possibility to explore new markets and areas. But there could exist more risks associated to OffOut that to Onshore Outsourcing, when the client and the provider are in the same country. Those risks are derived from the geographical and cultural distance between the parts. As a consequence the present study analyses the specific OffOut reasons and risks, contrasting their importance in the large Spanish firms.
