Patrimonio territorial y paisajístico de la trashumancia en España. Retos hacia un turismo sostenible y responsable

Abstract

Las prácticas ligadas al pastoreo tradicional y extensivo se han visto relegadas por nuevos modelos de aprovechamiento económico, contribuyendo al deterioro y pérdida del patrimonio territorial y paisajístico de la trashumancia, particularmente en el caso de las vías pecuarias. La recuperación de las vías pecuarias y su patrimonio asociado ofrece interesantes opciones para la restauración de paisajes degradados y el impulso de proyectos innovadores de desarrollo rural. En este contexto, el turismo vinculado a la trashumancia empieza a ser una realidad, como ya se observa en algunas zonas ganaderas del interior peninsular. El presente texto tiene como objetivos: 1) reconocer la huella física de la trashumancia en España, su dimensión concreta y el tamaño de la red como condición previa para hablar de su sistema paisajístico como recurso turístico, 2) identificar y conocer la situación y el potencial de las diversas iniciativas de promoción turística de la trashumancia, y 3) definir las tendencias motivacionales del turista de trashumancia.

The traditional and extensive pastoralism has been replaced by new economic models, contributing to the deterioration and loss of transhumance territorial and landscape heritage, and in particular, in the case of drove roads. The recovery of the drove roads and its associated heritage offers interesting options for the restoration of degraded landscapes and the promotion of innovative projects in rural development. In this context, tourism linked to the transhumance is becoming a reality, as already observed in some farming areas of the peninsular interior. This text aims to: 1) recognize the physical footprint of the transhumance in Spain, its concrete dimension and the size of the network as a prerequisite to speak of its landscape system as a tourist resource, 2) to identify and know the situation and the potential of the initiatives of tourism promotion of transhumance, and 3) to define motivational trends of transhumance tourists.
