Abstract: Zeolitic imidazolate framework ZIF-93 was synthesized from a stoichiometric mixture of metal–ligand in aqueous solutions at room temperature, yielding 80% of pure product. The characterization of the material confirmed the formation of a material having the same properties as the one obtained previously by a solvothermal method in the DMF route. This method is very promising for the efficient and environmentally friendly synthesis of ZIFs for CO2 capture application, proved by breakthrough experiments of binary CO2/N2 mixtures.
