| The main aim of this paper is to present Key Competences and Cooperative Learning as basic concepts in the 21st century education. It starts with key competence’s concept to facilitate their understanding and it defines as a transferable and multi-functional pack of knowledge, skills and attitudes that students should develop by means of meaningful and functional learning. The latest social and technological changes have generated a thought about how to acquire these competences in school. The Spanish Educational System contains seven key competences, which correspond to the development of different skills that it is vital to transfer from school to real life. It introduces the concept of cooperative learning as a methodological strategy to meet the current social needs and to educate students as participatory, democratic and critical citizens. Finally, it proposes a series of thoughts to improve our future teaching practice. |
