Propuesta de plan director para el Castillo de San Fernando de Alicante: la reactivación ecológica del patrimonio defensivo como espacio público accesible

Abstract

The purpose of the proposed intervention is to revive the use of heritage through accessibility and sustainability strategies. The innovative approach of the proposal is to propose reversible and ecological actions that provide access to the San Fernando Castle in Alicante through mechanical access from a new Interpretation Center in which the bastion is placed in value with the rest of the defensive system from the city. The intervention generates an accessible public space following ecological criteria, without considering the natural and the urban as two spheres confronted but in symbiosis. To complete the access, a panoramic elevator and a mechanical ramp are proposed which, through integration strategies in the environment, facilitate access to the fort. The proposed bioclimatic strategies such as the vegetation cover, the water sheet or the covered square make possible the interaction between the urban and the natural in a delicate ecosystem equilibrium, while respecting the integration with the historical environment.
