| Following the financial crisis in 2007, the E.U. has had to face major challenges since its inception. The first reactions to the crisis were marked by national responses, but quickly showed the need for coordinated solutions, primarily among the States of the Eurozone. The demands of international financial markets forced to adopt interim mechanisms, which have been replaced by the European Stability Mechanism, with permanent character, for which it was necessary to amend the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. Recently, the European Union Court of Justice has acknowledged the support of the reform process and the new mechanism with the founding Treaties. The first of the programs is being developed by the newly created mechanism is assistance to recapitalize the Spanish financial system. |
