| The performance and academic adjustment of students relates to their level of satisfaction and with different variables such as social support, self-esteem and stress. In this regard, special attention should be paid to stress and emotional exhaustion in higher education. The main objective of this study is to analyze the emotional exhaustion of university students currently studying education as well as their satisfaction with the university studies and self-esteem. For it, 310 students of the University of Granada participated, 30.3% male and 69.7% female; with an average age of 21.57 years, SD = 3.53; from the Degrees in Early Childhood Education (n = 74, 23.9%), Primary Education (n = 100, 32.3%) and Social Education (n = 95, 30.6%) as well as the Double Degree in Primary Education and Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (n = 41, 13.2%). The 33.9% was studying in the first year, 27.1% in the second year, 18.7% in the third year and 20.3% in the fourth year. Emotional Exhaustion Scale (ECE for its acronym in Spanish) for university students was used to collect information. ECE consists of 12 items among which 10 are intended to assess emotional exhaustion, one to assess satisfaction with the study and other self-esteem. For the present study, the construct validity was calculated through factor analysis and reliability through internal consistency index Cronbach’s alpha. The results indicated gender differences in Emotional exhaustion and Satisfaction with the study as well as in first one according to the degree, not being found for age. The need to address these issues in the development of university degrees is indicated.
