Sexo, género y biología

Abstract

La Biología es la ciencia de los organismos, ciencia que da una visión unificada de todos los seres vivos, especialmente de los humanos con los otros organismos animales. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar, a la luz de la biomedicina, conceptos tan importantes y controvertidos como el sexo, la identidad de género, el papel de género y la orientación sexual. En esta aproximación biológica, aportamos datos que permitan aumentar el grado de conocimiento y tolerancia frente a situaciones, relacionadas con el sexo y el género, que habitualmente sólo se abordan desde presupuestos ideológicos, religiosos y culturales.

Biology is the science of the organisms. This science provides an integrated vision of all live beings, especially between the humans and the other animal organisms. The aim of this work is to analyze, from the perspective of biomedicine, the following important and controversial concepts: sex, gender-identity, gender-role and sexual orientation. In this biological approach, we offer data oriented to increase the degree of knowledge and tolerance in front of situations, regarding sex and gender, which are often analyzed only from an ideological, religious or cultural point of view.
