L’architecture du silence de la Shoah dans les fictions de Sylvie Germain

Abstract

Los silencios en torno a la Shoah constituyen un leitmotiv en la obra narrativa de Sylvie Germain. Motivo y motivación, este fenómeno proteiforme emerge intencionadamente del «genio» de la escritora-filósofa y de la «sustancia histórica e ideológica» que impregna a la novelista en cada tramo de su creación literaria. La finalidad de la investigación desarrollada es la interpretación de estos silencios en un conjunto de novelas seleccionadas en donde la Shoah ocupa un lugar principal o secundario, pero relevante. A tal fin, se ha realizado un estudio pormenorizado del silencio según este proceda de la narradora, de las víctimas, de los victimarios o de Dios. Más allá del silencio «en boca» de seres humanos o supremos, se ha incluido igualmente un estudio del silencio espacial en ese mundo apocalíptico.

Silences concerning the Shoah constitute a leitmotiv in Sylvie Germain’s narrative work. Motive and motivation intentionally emerge as a proteiform phenomenon from the writer-philosopher’s genius and from the historical and ideological substance, which imbue the novelist in every section of her literary creation. The purpose of this study is to interpret those silences in a set of selected novels where the Shoah takes up either a primary or a secondary role, but in any case a relevant one. To this end this study carries out a detailed study of the silence coming from the narrator’s origin, the victims, the murderers or God. Beyond the silence in humans and supreme beings, this study also investigates the spatial silence in that apocalyptic world.
