| Introduction: The Florence Nightingale´s centenary celebration and the Index Foundation initiative of reading aloud her work has allowed us to reflect in the book “Nursing notes”, which objective has been focused on the ecologic contents of the work. Method: We have done a “content analyze” of the text looking for the ecological and environmental and we have contrasted with the probably influences or concordance with other authors of her period and with the actually notable concepts of environmentally health. Results: We emphasize the worry with alimentation themes, specially the advice of eating brown bread made at home, hygienic and ventilation. All her work is full of advices and practices to favor ill people´s welfare and rehabilitation. We result the emphasis that she put in the nursing care’s scientific validation, empirically proved along the time and frequently with a better electivity and less risk than other pharmacologic therapies. Conclusions: In spite of the 150 years since her work has been written, it is very actual, we have to admit that she was a very informed woman and with scientific thinks, which was extraordinary for a woman of this period. The most similar case in Spain was the work of the liberal woman Concepcion Arenal, who wrote “The poor people´s nurse”. For all those things we recommend the Nigthingale´s work Reading to the young nursing generations.
