Turistas y veraneantes ante el paisaje. La conquista del hábitat residencial turístico

Abstract

Interpretar el concepto de ‘turismo’ como la colonización de un espacio nos ayuda a entender el fenómeno del hábitat turístico, así como la relación que guardan los turistas y veraneantes con el nuevo territorio conquistado. Desde esa óptica resulta oportuno estudiar estas transformaciones del paisaje a partir de las tipologías residenciales más habituales que las produjeron, especialmente en la segunda mitad del siglo XX. Para ello se analizarán dos modelos de arquitectura turística: los bloques aislados de apartamentos, vinculados directamente con la reinterpretación del movimiento moderno (1945-1975), y los conjuntos de viviendas unifamiliares adosadas, más relacionados con las derivas de la condición posmoderna (1975-2005). Y proponemos ilustrar ambos casos en la costa sur valenciana (desde Alicante hasta Torrevieja) atendiendo a la producción de un arquitecto que dedicó tiempo y esfuerzos a mejorar soluciones y alternativas: se trata de Antonio Serrano Brú. En este estudio podremos encontrar algunas claves que nos permitan, en el futuro, un turismo que haga compatibles las preferencias vacacionales del hombre contemporáneo con la conservación de la esencia de nuestro hábitat natural y antropizado.

The definition of ‘tourism’ as the colonization of a territory might be helpful in understanding the phenomenon of tourist habitat and the relations between tourists and holidaymakers and their new conquered territory. From this perspective, it is appropriate that a study is carried out into these changes of the landscape by the research of the most common residential typologies that emerged in the skyline, particularly in the second half of the twentieth century. Consequently, two models of tourist architecture will be analized: the blocks of flats, a direct reinterpretation of the modern movement (1945-1975), and the sets of terraced houses, mainly related to the drift of the postmodern condition (1975-2005). The proposal of this study is to illustrate both cases in the south coast of Valencia (from Alicante to Torrevieja) based on the production of an architect who devoted time and effort to improve solutions and alternatives: this is Antonio Serrano Brú. In this study we‘ll find some clues that will make possible in the future a tourism able to reconcile the contemporary man´s holiday preferences with the conservation of the essence of our natural and antropic habitat.
