Continuar + gerundi i seguir + gerundi: un estudi de corpus

Abstract

L’estudi que presentem a continuació se situa dins del marc d’una anàlisi exhaustiva sobre les perífrasis verbals aspectuals de la llengua catalana antiga i medieval. Concretament, estudiem les perífrasis “seguir + gerundi” i “continuar + gerundi”. L’objectiu és determinar-ne el valor aspectual i l’evolució des dels inicis del català fins al principis del segle XVII. En darrer terme, pretenem fer llum sobre els usos actual, ja que han presentat tradicionalment dubtes des d’un punt de vista normatiu.

The following study has been carried out within the frame of an exhaustive analysis on aspectual verbal periphrases in Old and Medieval Catalan. More precisely, this study focuses on the periphrases “seguir + gerund” and “continuar + gerund”. The aim is to establish its aspectual value and its evolution from the origin of the Catalan language until the beginning of the 17th century. Finally, we attempt to provide an explanation for current use of these periphrases, since they have traditionally been questionable from a normative perspective.
