Una nueva aportación a los nombres de los musulmanes en latín medieval

Abstract

En la Disputatio Abutalib, texto inédito del siglo XIV, se encuentran varios términos para referirse a los musulmanes. Estos términos no aparecen en los primeros polemistas latinos del siglo IX, y sí a partir del siglo XII, cuando se amplía el vocabulario en latín en este campo. Entre estas innovaciones está el término alpes, de posible origen árabe o turco.

In Disputatio Abutalib, unpublished text of the 14th century, are several terms that make reference to the Muslims. These terms don’t appear in the first Latin polemistics of the 9th century, but they do it from the 12 th century, when the vocabulary in Latin increased in this field. Between these innovations we find the term alpes, that possibly have an Arabic or Turkish origin.
