Significado del embarazo en la adolescencia: la dimensión sentimental

Abstract

Se presentan los hallazgos de un estudio de investigación cualitativa sobre el significado del embarazo en la adolescencia. El análisis de datos revela que para la joven su embarazo se inscribe dentro de una relación amorosa. Así, mientras que hay embarazos que se planifican dentro del noviazgo y se busca la maternidad, otros surgen de manera inoportuna para la relación, pues no se planificaron. Conocer la construcción subjetiva que la joven hace de su embarazo permitirá a los profesionales de la salud detectar necesidades, identificar situaciones de vulnerabilidad y apoyar a las jóvenes embarazadas que lo precisen.

The findings of a qualitative investigation on the significance of pregnancy during adolescence is presented. The analysis of the data showed that for the adolescent the pregnancy takes place within a amorous relationship. Thus, while some pregnancies are planned within this type of relationship, others occur unexpectedly and are 'not planned. It is important to know the subjective construction which the adolescent gives her pregnancy is order to allow health care professionals to determine her needs, identify situations of vulnerability and provide support to pregnant adolescents which require the same.
