Abstract

En El Paraíso en el Nuevo Mundo, León Pinelo trató de demostrar que el Paraíso terrenal fue un lugar real y que estuvo en América del Sur. Una vez superada la dificultad geográfica, le quedaba a León Pinelo otra aún mayor, la histórica. Dado que el Jardín del Edén se encuentra en América, el hombre primigenio procede de allí, la cuestión principal es solucionar cómo pasó a poblarse el mundo conocido, y cómo se repobló el nuevo. Es en el Libro segundo donde León Pinelo dedica sus esfuerzos a fundamentar su tesis del origen del hombre americano, en la que tiene una importancia fundamental Noé y su arca.

In El Paraíso en el Nuevo Mundo, León Pinelo wanted to show that earthly Paradise was a reality and that this place existed in South America. When he had overcome the geographic difficulty, he had a much bigger one, the historic problem. As the Garden of Eden was in America, man therefore originated there, thus the principal matter was to resolve how the rest of the World had been populated, and the how the new World was repopulated. It is in the second book where León Pinelo devotes his efforts to advance his thesis of the origins of humanity, in which Noah and his Ark have great importance.
