| es_ES |
dc.description.abstract | This research is focused on the referendum held in Britain on 5 June 1975 to decide whether or not to remain in the European project, to which this country had joined two years before. This issue is approached through the pages of the Spanish press of the time with a double purpose. Firstly, to analyze the coverage of each of the five newspapers selected (ABC, Arriba, La Vanguardia Española, Pueblo and Ya), from one week before to one week after the day of the plebiscite. And, secondly, to check if, during the final stages of the Franco regime, all of them firmly supported the victory of the yes’ vote, this is, the remaining of Britain in the Common Market. As a result, it is observed that, even if the five publications associate integration with wisdom, its coverage vary both in quantitative and qualitative terms, providing an heterogeneous media discourse. | es_ES |
